What I'm Reading: I stayed up late last night finishing UPSIDE DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. It is about a family who endures Hurricane Katrina. This is a heartbreaking read. Like, I got real tears. And amazing MG voice. I highly recommend.
What I'm Writing: Last week I was about here:
And today I am here:
You will note that the progress bar has turned green, so that is exciting! But the ending to this thing is getting out of control. I see some major rewriting in my future. But maybe it will be one of those things where I put it away for a while and when I come back to it I find that it is bloody brilliant??? Maybe??? We shall see. Oh, and my goal would be to get to 50K by next week.
What works for Me:
I am running out of things that work for me. And right now I am not entirely sure any of it is working for me. Blah. Sometimes writing is like, super hard. :/
What Else is Going On:
We got a break from arctic temperatures here in Kansas City this last week, and my kid enjoyed some time outside.
So what's up with all of you???
Good job on the words this week! Who knows? Maybe you'll end up loving this ending down the road. I revisited a WiP yesterday that I thought was a hot mess and was surprised at how much I actually liked it. Hoping the same goes for you! Have a great week, Niki! :D
ReplyDeleteWriting is definitely super hard sometimes!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with hitting 50k this week. You can do it.
Stay warm!
Best of luck with your writing this week! Sometimes when you revisit a manuscript later on, it's much better than you thought at the time. :)
ReplyDeleteYay for all the words! UPSIDE DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE sounds like a really good read - I mean, not only for the tears but the premise sounds cool. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the rest of the story, you did well this week. I know, I'm about out of things that work for me, too.
ReplyDeleteLoved the cute pics.
Yay for green and outdoor play! I also recently read Upside Down in the Middle of Nowhere with one of my classes . . . very unique voice!
ReplyDeleteWriting is really hard work and it's always heartbreaking because the book in your head never quite shows up on the page, at least at first!! Good luck with your goals. I'm sure it will look better than you think when you come back to it :)
ReplyDeleteYay for new words! I need me some of those. And don't worry to much about the blahs, it will pass. It always does.
ReplyDeleteAnd hooray for getting to play outside. I'm a vitamin D junkie myself, so I know how good that feels.
Hope you have a brilliant week!
