It's time for What's Up Wednesday, a blog hop sponsored by Jaime and Erin. You can look here for more information and how to play along.
What I'm Reading: I just picked up GUY IN REAL LIFE by Steve Brezenoff at the library, but I haven't even cracked the cover yet. I'll let you know what I think later. Here is the the Goodreads blub:
It is Labor Day weekend in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and boy and girl collide on a dark street at two thirty in the morning: Lesh, who wears black, listens to metal, and plays MMOs; Svetlana, who embroiders her skirts, listens to Björk and Berlioz, and dungeon masters her own RPG. They should pick themselves up, continue on their way, and never talk to each other again.
But they don't.
This is a story of two people who do not belong in each other's lives, who find each other at a time when they desperately need someone who doesn't belong in their lives. A story of those moments when we act like people we aren't in order to figure out who we are. A story of the roles we all play-at school, at home, with our friends, and without our friends-and the one person who might show us what lies underneath it all.
UPDATE: I actually DID start reading this yesterday and it is pretty much ELANOR and PARK meets READY PLAYER ONE, two books I adore, so I am pretty into this one!
What I'm Writing: Hopefully this category will be pretty boring for a while because I finished my draft of MARTY PERKINS (my Mary Poppins remake), and I have two (okay three) other drafts that need serious editing, so that will be my mantra for the next several months. Although, I do know what I want to write next and it will be hard to resist...
What's Inspiring Me: PITCH WARS!!!! Oh my gracious, if God would smile on me and have one of these amazing mentors choose my manuscript to critique I would SMILE SO HARD. And jump up and down! Maybe even pee my pants a little, who knows?
What Else is Going On: My teeny tiny baby daughter is starting Kindergarten in just a few short days! Mom is not okay with this. Not okay at all.
Best of luck with Pitch Wars. I need to get everything ready for that asap :D And have fun with those revisions, too :)
ReplyDeleteAaaw, I'm sure you and your little one will be just fine.
Good luck with Pitch Wars! So exciting. I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed for you. And big hugs for babies starting school. Mine is about to head into second grade in a couple of weeks. The time does fly. Have a great week!
