The Love Post

Is it Wednesday already?  That must mean it's time for another addition of What's Up Wednesday, a blog hop created by Jaime Morrow and Erin Funk.  For more info click here.

What I'm Reading:  I just finished A MAD WICKED FOLLY by Sharon Biggs Waller.  I had everything that I love in a great YA Historical Fic.  Love, Love, Love.

What I'm Writing:  I am in the fun and exciting part of writing wherein you don't actually write that much.  I have a shiny new idea, so I have been Pintresting, Wikapedia-ing, and daydreaming.  So far, I think I have a pretty good start.  This one is gonna be another MG, because me thinks that is my strong suit.
I am also editing my MG Sci-Fi Adventure, UNDER THE BLUE.  I am waiting for comments from one more CP and one beta reader, and then that one should be ready to query.

What Works for Me:  I am really trying to come up with a better way of outlining.  For real.  I don't like using Scrivener for it, because I need MORE ROOM.  I want my outline to be more detailed this time so I don't end up with 1500 words I am supposed to write about "Something bad happens..."  LOL.

What Else is Happening:  My kiddos were some pretty sweet valentines.  Hope you had a day full of love as well!

  1. Cute photos! Outlining is tricky. I try to get all the major events noted down, but I do end up being really vague in places.

Enjoy the between-project brainstorming phase! I love that part. :)

  4. I LOVED A Mad, Wicked Folly! Probably one of my favorite books last year.
    Your kids are super cute!
I'm not a great outliner, but I usually splash my outlines on pages here and there and everywhere. I've started buying notebooks so I can keep my notes at least a little more organized!

  5. I am such a huge fan of A MAD, WICKED FOLLY! I want a bunch more of that kind of book. The part you're at in the story process is so much fun! I love that part. :-) I guess I'm still sort of doing those things while I'm drafting which helps make that part of things more enjoyable too.

Your kiddos are cuties. Hope you have a wonderful week!

  9. My outlines are crazy long and detailed and I do them in Scrivener. I open a file for every scene in the binder and plunk in my outline notes for each one. Those files I title with an "n" at the start to indicate they're notes. When I go to write a scene, I insert a new file beneath its corresponding notes for drafting. Then, when I'm done, I move the notes for that scene into the notes section of the binder. It works well because I can open the outline notes in half the screen and draft on the other half. Sounds convoluted when I explain it, but it's actually pretty straightforward in reality lol. Not sure if something like that would work for you, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

I really need to read A MAD, WICKED FOLLY sometime. I've heard tons of great things about it! Good luck working on your SNI this week!
